Taipei, Sept. 18 (CNA) Taiwan reported six new COVID-19 cases -- all patients who contracted the virus overseas -- and no deaths from the disease on Saturday, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

Of the six new cases, two were Taiwanese nationals who recently returned from the Philippines, and the four others were three Indonesians and one Bangladesh national, who traveled to Taiwan from their respective countries, the CECC said.

They arrived in Taiwan between Sept. 4 and Sept. 16. Five of them tested positive upon arrival, and one during the mandatory quarantine for all arrivals to the country, according to the CECC.

The six new cases bring the total in Taiwan to 16,129, of which 1,500 were imported cases.

To date, 839 people have died of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 827 since May 15, when the country first recorded more than 100 COVID-19 cases in a single day.
