As 37 new locally transmitted COVID-19 cases were reported on Wednesday, lifting the total to 485 in Yangzhou, East China's Jiangsu Province, in the latest outbreak, the city also found two new positive cases during its sixth round of citywide nucleic acid testing. Yangzhou upgraded several more areas to high-risk.

According to Thursday's press conference, of the 37 cases found on Wednesday, no one was a severe or critical patient. Of the total of 485 patients reported so far, 37 were severe or critical patients.

The city carried out its sixth round of large-scale nucleic acid testing from Wednesday and tested 1.59 million people as of Thursday 8 am. Of them, two tested positive for COVID-19, Wang Jingsong, deputy director of local health department, said.

Sometimes, there were some discrepancies between the number of confirmed cases and the number of positive samples from large-scale nucleic acid tests, said Wang. He explained that the subjects of large-scale tests do not include key groups such as personnel under centralized medical observation, so the two data are not consistent.

Several areas in four districts in the city have adjusted their risk level to high, including Qujiang and Dongguan streets in Guanglin district, Hanshang and Xinsheng streets in Hanjiang district, Wenhui street in economic and technological development zone, and Meiling street in Shugang-Slender West Lake scenic area.

Also, dozens of areas in five districts in Yangzhou have been adjusted to medium areas.
