CORONAVIRUS/Taiwan's new guidelines under extended Level 3 alert

Taipei, July 8 (CNA) Taiwan will ease some of its COVID-19 restrictions, starting July 13, to allow for more daily and social activities, such as onsite dining and sports, even though the nationwide Level 3 COVID-19 alert will be extended at least until July 26, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
At a press briefing Thursday, Health Minister Chen Shih-chung (陳時中), who heads the CECC, along with senior officials from various government ministries, detailed the new guidelines that will take effect July 13.
In general, even with less stringent restrictions on daily and social activities, people should still observe social distancing regulations and adhere to the mask-wearing and other disease prevention protocols, Chen said.
The CECC's new guidelines, effective July 13, are as follows:
Onsite dining
•At restaurants and eateries: Seating arrangements must adhere to social distancing regulations. Customers are required to wear masks, except when they are eating
•At food courts in department stores and malls: The same rules as at restaurants. No alcoholic drinks should be served
•At traditional markets and night markets: The same dining rules as at restaurants. Food tasting will not be permitted. Customers are advised not to stay longer than one hour each time
•At train stations (Taiwan Railways Administration, Taiwan High Speed Rail): Onsite dining allowed at food courts and restaurants, on condition that social distancing and mask-wearing rules be maintained
•No eating or drinking allowed on trains
Reopening of various venues
Cultural facilities:
Museums, exhibition halls, cinemas and cultural centers will reopen, with capacity limited to 100 persons at a time. Visitors are advised to make reservations and must observe social distancing and mask rules
•Performance centers and concert halls will resume shows but without audiences
•Libraries will resume book lending services. Patrons will be allowed only as far as the counters Sports venues:
•Sports centers, golf courses and gyms will reopen, with social distancing and the mask wearing mandated. Showers will remain closed. Rental of personal gear will not be permitted
•Swimming pools to remain closed
Educational facilities:
•Kindergartens, elementary schools, junior and senior high schools will remain closed. On-campus sports fields may reopen to the public
•Driving schools will reopen but group training sessions will not be permitted
Scenic spots and entertainment parks:
•National parks will reopen, but nearby mountain lodges will remain closed
•National scenic areas, eco-educational farms, botanical gardens to reopen, with social distancing and mask rules in place
•Beaches will remain closed
According to the CECC, indoor gatherings of more than four people and outdoor gatherings of more than nine people will still be prohibited after July 12, except at the aforementioned locations where those restrictions will be eased.
Local governments have the right to allow slight adjustments to the new guidelines, under special circumstances, the CECC said.
