Kaohsiung, May 18 (CNA) Kaohsiung further tightened its COVID-19 restrictions Tuesday, including prohibiting all indoor meetings of more than five people after a hospital reported a second confirmed COVID-19 patient earlier in the day.

Indoor gatherings of more than five people and outdoor gatherings of more than 10 people are now barred, and all places of worship, including temples, churches, mosques, will be closed until June 8, Mayor Chen Chi-mai (陳其邁) announced.

Movie theaters will also be closed until May 28, Chen said.

The latest measures add to the previous round of control measures announced by city authorities last week that shut down adult entertainment venues, including bars, KTVs, night clubs and massage parlors until May 28.

All public facilities such as sports centers, community centers, libraries, exhibition centers and amusement parks in Kaohsiung have been ordered to shut down, also until May 28.

Tuesday's announcement was made after Renhui Women's and Children's Hospital in the city's Fengshan District reported its second confirmed COVID-19 case early in the day following a screening of all of its patients and employees.

One nurse among the 94 people tested was COVID-19 positive, after a hospital administrator tested positive a day earlier, leading the hospital to move all of its patients to other locations.

The hospital will not be reopened until the first half of June after all of its employees clear their second COVID-19 test, which will be done on May 29 at the conclusion of their two-week quarantine, according to the city's health department.
