Taipei, Feb. 19 (CNA) Taiwan on Friday added one new imported case of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 941, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).
The new case is an Indonesian national in his 20s who arrived in Taiwan on Feb. 4 to begin work on a fishing vessel, Health Minister Chen Shih-chung (陳時中) said at a press briefing in Taipei.
As required, the man had proof of a negative COVID-19 test issued within three days of his flight, and went directly into quarantine at a government-designated facility following his arrival, said Chen, who also heads the CECC.
Before completing his quarantine, the man was tested for COVID-19 on Wednesday, and the results came back positive on Friday, said Chen, adding that he is currently asymptomatic.
As he did not come into contact with anyone during his time in Taiwan, no contact tracing is necessary in the case, Chen added.
To date, Taiwan has reported 941 cases of COVID-19, of which 825 have been classified as imported.
Of the total, 888 people have recovered, nine have died and 44 remain in hospital, according to CECC statistics as of Friday.
