Taipei, Jan. 4 (CNA) The Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) on Monday said it has so far traced seven people who had come into contact with a Vietnamese migrant worker who recently returned to her home country and subsequently tested positive for COVID-19.
Speaking to reporters in Taipei, CECC spokesman Chuang Jen-hsiang (莊人祥) said the report was received from the Vietnamese authorities late Saturday, involving a woman in her 30s who left Taiwan Dec. 30 via Bamboo Airways flight QH9511 bound for Vietnam.
Based on the information provided, Chuang said the Vietnamese migrant worker had been employed in Taiwan's industrial sector since 2016 and spent all her time in the country before her departure.
The woman had been quarantined in the same room with seven other people after her return, although none had tested positive for COVID-19, he explained, noting that the authorities there said they will carry out further tests on the latest case.
According to the CECC spokesman, the seven people traced in Taiwan are being subjected to nucleic acid and serum tests for COVID-19 as a precuationary measure.
So far, one has tested negative for the disease, he added.
