Taipei, Dec. 27 (CNA) Postal services to the United Kingdom will be temporarily suspended starting Monday due to the cancellation of flights by airlines as the spread of COVID-19 accelerated in that country, Taiwan's Chunghwa Post announced on Sunday.

Starting Monday, acceptance and delivery of mail items will be temporarily suspended, according to a notice issued by the state-run postal company.

The company said that with the spread of COVID-19 in the U.K. getting more serious, airlines have suspended flights to and from the country. That means airmail services to the U.K. will be suspended until further notice.

In addition, due to the outbreak of COVID-19, airmail services to many destinations may be subject to delays, particularly to France, Malaysia, the United States, Melbourne in Australia and Canada, according to Chunghwa Post.
