Greece Receives First Doses of Coronavirus Vaccine

Athens, Dec 25, 2020, SPA -- Greece received its first 9,700 doses of the coronavirus vaccine from Bulgaria on Friday, dpa quoted state television

as reporting from the border crossing at Kulata and Promachonas.

Police accompanied the lorries carrying the vaccine produced by BioNTech and Pfizer to Athens, about 600 kilometres away.

The vaccine is intended for a hospital in the Greek capital.

A nurse who works in an Athens hospital for coronavirus patients and a man in a senior home are expected to be the first to receive the vaccine on Sunday.

Greek President Ekaterini Sakellaropoulou and Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis will also be vaccinated, reported state television.
