COVID-19 Follow-up Committee Holds 94th Meeting

Riyadh, May 23, 2020, SPA -- Under the chairmanship of Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, the COVID-19 Follow-up Committee held its 94th meeting today, in the presence of the members of the Committee representing a number of the relevant governmental entities.
During the meeting, all relevant COVID-19 updates and reports were reviewed. The committee discussed the epidemiological situation globally, as well as the cases reported locally. All precautionary measures carried out at the points of entry into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will continue in full and will be further enhanced, the committee stressed.
Following the meeting, Assistant Minister of Health Dr. Mohammed Al-Abdulaali who is also Spokesperson of the Health Ministry said in a press conference that the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases worldwide is 5231328 cases, of which 2072768 cases have been cured to date. The COVID-19 death toll has jumped to 338612.
Dr. Al-Abdulaali said that 2442 new COVID-19 cases were reported today in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, adding that the new cases were reported in Riyadh (794), Makkah (466), Jeddah (444), Madinah (273), Dammam (79), Jubail (77), Hail (45), Taif (31), Hofuf (28), Dhahran (23), Qatif (22), Al-Khobar (21), Buraidah (21), Yanbu (20), Khulais (15), Tabuk (9), Baish (8), Al-Nairia (6), Al-Kharj (6), Hottat bni Tamim (4), Wadi Al-Dawasir (4), Al-Jafr (3), Abha (3), Khamis Mushait (3), Al-Oyoun (2), Ras Tanurah (2), Salwa (2), Al-Bat'haa (2), Sabt Al-Alayah (2), Al-Baha (2), Al-Mazahmiah (2), Al-Sulayyil (2), and one case in each of Safwa, Unaizah, Arras, Uglat Asugoyr, Al-Asyah, Bishah, Al-Bashayer, Al-Hada, Um edoum, Dhalm, Al-Laith, Baljurashi, Haql, Al-Towal, Samtah, Hafr Al-Batin, Sharorah, Al-Delm, Layla and Al-Hareeq.
He pointed out that the total cases tested positive for COVID-19 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reached 70161 cases, of which 28546 cases are active cases receiving medical care, and their health condition is mostly stable; with the exception of 339 critical cases.
He also pointed out that the cases confirmed today represent 65% for non-Saudis and 35% for Saudi nationals. The number of the new recoveries is 2233, bringing the total number of recoverees to 41236, Dr. Al-Abdulaali said, adding that the number of the new deaths is 15, bringing the total death toll to 379.
With regard to the tests at the laboratories, Dr. Al-Abdulaali disclosed that 17558 new tests are conducted, bringing the total number of the tests to 684615 until now.
