Number of Coronavirus Cases in Mexico Surpasses 35,000

Mexico City, May 11, 2020, SPA -- The total number of coronavirus cases in Mexico reached 35,022, increasing by 1,562 over the past day, Deputy Minister of Health Hugo Lopez-Gatell said on Monday, Russian News Agency (TASS) reported.

According to him, since February 28, 35,022 laboratory-confirmed cases of infection were registered.

Over the past 24 hours, 112 patients died, the total number of deaths increased to 3,465.

The first coronavirus case in Mexico was officially announced on February 28.

On April 21, Deputy Minister of Health Hugo Lopez-Gatell said that the third phase of the infection's spread has started in the country, characterized by a rapid increase in the incidence.

On March 30, the government announced a public health emergency and suspension of all activities of non-primary importance.
