Air Force update for COVID-19

By Secretary of the Air Force Public Affairs / Published April 02, 2020

WASHINGTON (AFNS) -- In an effort to minimize the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 and to prioritize the health and safety of Department of the Air Force personnel, the following modifications have been made:

April 2, 2020
Medical professionals from the U.S. Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine are training medics down at Joint Base Charleston on the use of a Transport Isolation System if a request came to move patients affected by COVID-19 aboard a cargo military aircraft. The TIS is an infectious disease containment unit designed to minimize risk to aircrew and medical attendants, while allowing in-flight medical care for patients afflicted by contagions like COVID-19.

The Department of the Air Force released guidance allowing installation commanders to make deviations to grooming and fitness standards, as COVID-19 health protection conditions and physical distancing guidelines inhibit access to barber shops, hair salons and fitness centers across the Air Force
