China reports 20 new coronavirus cases, 10 deaths

Beijing, March 15, 2020, SPA -- China reported 20 new coronavirus cases and 10 new Covid-19 deaths on Sunday, according to the latest figures released by the National Health Commission (NHC). The deaths from Covid-19, the respiratory disease caused by the new virus, were all reported in Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province where the outbreak originated in December.

Of the new cases, 16 were returning residents who were infected abroad, indicating a slow in locally transmitted infections. The other four cases were recorded in Wuhan, dpa reported.

On Saturday, only 11 new cases were reported - three more than the previous day.

Covid-19 has killed 3,199 in China and infected a total of 80,844 people nationwide, 66,911 of whom have recovered from the illness.
