TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Countries Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said improving Syrian and Iraqi states is the best way to fight a terrorist group known as the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

'The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the best way to battle ISIL and terrorism in the region is to help Iraqi and Syrian states, which are fighting terrorism in practice,' he said in a meeting with the visiting Head of French National Assembly Patricia Adam here in Tehran.

He further added that the West and the US have been following a dual-track approach regarding Iraq and Syria, and said Iran would not wait for any 'international coalition' to fight against terrorism.

'The Islamic Republic of Iran will act based on its international responsibility and in line with international rules.'

Patricia Adam, for her part, stressed importance of talks with Iran on regional issues, and said, Iran and France are sharing similar views on fighting terrorism and boosting Iraqi state.
