Saudi Arabia has arrested 88 people on charges of planning to carry out terrorist attacks both in the country and abroad.
Mansour al-Turki, a spokesman for Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Interior Affairs, said on Tuesday that most of the people detained had been previously arrested on charges related to terrorism.
He also said that some of the people were in contact with "terrorist organizations" outside the country, noting that they were detained in the past few days and were "about to launch attacks."
Three of the detained people are Yemeni, and the rest are from Saudi Arabia, al-Turki said.
According to reports, Saudi Arabia has stepped up security measures across the country as ISIL militants increase their attacks in Iraq and Syria.
Iran had on many occasions warned Saudi Arabia and other countries supporting the Takfiri militants fighting against the Syrian government that they will one day face the threat of the terrorist groups they support.
This comes as Saudi Arabia is widely believed to be financing and supporting various terrorist groups that operate in Syria and Iraq.
Iraqi and Syrian authorities have also repeatedly criticized Saudi Arabia and its Persian Gulf Arab allies of fomenting terror in their countries.
The ISIL terrorists have been committing heinous crimes in the areas they have under control in the Iraq and Syria, including the mass execution of civilians and armed forces.
