Suspect In Woolwich Street Killing Arraigned
May 30, 2013
Michael Adebowale, a 22-year-old charged with murdering a British soldier last week on a London street, has appeared in a London court.
Adebowale did not enter a plea to two charges read out against him at the May 30 hearing.
The prosecutor told the court Adebowale should be tried under Britain's terrorism laws.
Adebowale was formally charged on May 29 with the May 22 stabbing death of 25-year-old soldier Lee Rigby.
He also is charged with illegally possessing a revolver.
Adebowale spent six days in a hospital after being shot by London police during his arrest.
He is scheduled to appear again in court for pre-trial hearings on June 3 and June 28.
A second suspect who also was shot while being arrested, Michael Adebolajo, remains at a London hospital.
