Turkish security forces have arrested four more people suspected of being involved in the two car bombings in the southern province of Hatay on May 11.
Turkey’s Anatolian news agency reported that the arrests were made late Wednesday.
On May 12, the security forces also detained nine suspects in connection with the bomb attacks.
Nearly 50 people were killed and more than 140 others were injured in the bombings in Hatay’s town of Reyhanli.
Police sources said that of the nine arrested on May 12 five were members of the Revolutionary People’s Liberation Party/Front (DHKP/C), and the remaining four were Acilciler militants.
Following the attacks in Reyhanli, the Turkish army sent air and ground military reinforcements to the town, which is located only a few kilometers from Turkey’s border with Syria.
Turkey’s Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu censured the bomb attacks as an act of provocation, saying that the Turkish government would take all necessary measures to protect the country.
Ankara has blamed the Syrian government for the bombings. However, Syrian Foreign Minister Omran al-Zoabi has strongly rejected Syria’s involvement in the attacks, saying Damascus would not “commit such an act, because our values would not allow that.”
