
Emergency responders investigate suspicious package at Scott AFB
8/31/2011 - SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Illinois (AFNS) -- Emergency responders are investigating a suspicious package at the official mail center here Aug. 31.
The building was evacuated and three people were transported to a local hospital as a result of possible chemical exposure; another 13 people are being decontaminated on site.
The education center, bowling alley, Information Tickets and Tours office, and Airman and Family Readiness Center are closed until further notice, base officials said. First responders are on scene. All areas were evacuated.
There is no immediate threat to the community, base officials said.
