Islamabad, May 2, IRNA -- The electronic media in Pakistan on Monday exclusively reported news about the killing of Osama Bin Ladan.
Pakistan foreign ministry has confirmed the death of Osama Bin Ladan.
'Osama bin Laden's death illustrates the resolve of the international community, including Pakistan, to fight and eliminate terrorism,' the foreign ministry said.
Geo Tv channel reported that US President Barack Obama has announced that al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden was killed on Sunday in a firefight with U.S. forces in Pakistan and his body was recovered.
However, the channel also reported the denial of Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) regarding the killing of Osama Bin Laden.
The channel also quoted Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani saying that the US killing of Osama bin Laden was a great victory.
Pakistan Television reported, al-Qaeda founder and leader Osama bin Laden has been killed by US forces in Pakistan.
“Osama’s son also killed in the operation while two of his wives have been arrested. The world’s most sought-after man since the 9/11 attack on New York’s World Trade Centre has been killed, US President Barack Obama declared”, it stated.
Dawn news said that Osama bin Laden, the mastermind of the Sept 11, 2001 attacks, was killed late Sunday night in Abbottabad by a joint American and Pakistani team.
Dunya News channel reporting the news of Osama’s killing said his son also killed in the operation while two of his wives have been arrested.
It said that the world’s most sought-after man since the 9/11 attack on New York’s World Trade Centre has been killed, US President Barack Obama declared early on Monday.
“In a television address, Obama confirmed bin Laden’s death, claiming that bin Laden was killed in a US operation in Abbottabad”, reported Dunya tv.
The channel stated earlier, the US and western sources claimed that Bin Laden was killed as the result of a missile attack in Pakistan but President Obama claimed that Bin Laden was killed in a joint operation by US special forces and CIA operatives in Abbottabad and Osama s body was in possession of the US officials.
ARY One world another private Pakistani news channel reported said Al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden's four children and two wives have been arrested.
It said Osama bin Laden was killed on Monday in US Special Forces operation in Abbottabad, less than 100 km from Pakistan capital Islamabad.
“Sources said Osama's four children, two wives have been arrested, a close friend of bin Laden named as Akbar was also arrested and transferred to undisclosed place”, the channel stated.
Security alert has been declared in Abbotabad and adjacent areas after the US operation in which bin Laden was killed.
ARY news reported that a top level meeting held at the Presidency was attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and the chiefs of intelligence agencies. The meeting discussed the situation after killing of Osama bin Laden in Abbotabad.
The Nation newspaper on its website reported, “Pakistan finally confirming that Osama Bin Laden has been killed said operation was conducted by the US forces in accordance with declared US policy that Osama bin Ladin will be eliminated in a direct action by the US forces, wherever found in the world”.
The newspaper also reported the statement of Indian Home Minister P. Chidambaram that the killing of Al-Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden near Islamabad is further evidence that terrorists find 'sanctuary' in Pakistan.
Samaa Tv stated the body of Al-Qaeda mastermind Osama bin Laden has been buried at sea after he was killed by US covert forces in Pakistan.
The channel reported that President Zardari chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad to discuss the situation arising from Osama bin Laden’s death in Abbotabad.
AAJ Tv quoting the statement of Pakistani Foreign Office said ‘Pakistan on Monday confirmed the death of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden in an “intelligence-driven military operation” conducted by the US army, in the early hours at Abbottabad’.
According to the statement almost, 30,000 Pakistani civilians lost their lives in terrorist attacks in the last few years. More than 5,000 Pakistani security and armed forces officials have been martyred in Pakistan’s campaign against Al-Qaeda, other terrorist organizations and affiliates.
