Two die as swine flu returns to Germany

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

Berlin, Jan 3, IRNA -- Two people have died of swine flu in the German state of Lower Saxony, a state Social Ministry spokesman announced Monday.

A three-year-old girl and a 51-year-old man, who had been suffering from an earlier illness, have died of the H1N1 influenza virus, also known as swine flu, the official said.

Both lived in the city of Goettingen, the spokesman added.

He stressed there was 'no reason to panic.'

The latest outbreak of swine flu in Germany is expected to reach its peak either at the end of this month or in January.

Some 250 swine flu death cases have been recorded in Germany so far, most of them occurred during the time from fall 2009 until August 2010.
