Terrorist bombing injures at least 22 people in Istanbul - IRNA

Ankara, Oct 31, IRNA -- A suicide bomber injured at least 22 people in an attack aimed at a police unit in the busiest local and tourist district in Istanbul on Sunday morning, IRNA office in Istanbul reported.
IRNA reporter in Istanbul said that the bombing occurred in Taksim Square in the Beyoglu district, popular among tourists and locals.
He said that the police were investigating a second suspect.
Police cordoned off the site of the explosion and entirely blocked pedestrian and vehicle traffic around the neighborhood.
In reaction to the terror attack Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said: “I once more remind here that those who want to stir up Turkey, destroy the air of peace, stability and security will never be tolerated.”
In a remarks broadcast on television from Turkish southeastern town, Mardin, the prime minister said, “Such attacks will by no means obstruct Turkey from its unity, brotherhood and aims for progress.”
