Air India planes put on high alert

New Delhi, Jan 22, IRNA -- Air India and other flights operating in India's neighbourhood have been put on high security alert.
This follows intelligence inputs about hijack attempts by the terrorist outfits.
The Airlines has been directed to take extra steps on aircraft operating on routes in the SAARC region apart from deploying sky marshalls.
The intelligence inputs suggest that terrorist outfits are planning to hijack a plane particularly of Air India operating in the SAARC region.
Following these inputs the Civil Aviation Ministry has issued directions to all airlines operating on such routes.
The External Affairs Ministry has also directed its missions abroad to brief the staff of Air India another Indian careers about the threat.
