New Delhi, Feb 13, IRNA – India Friday asked Pakistan to dismantle terror infrastructure on its soil.
Welcoming Pakistan's response to the Mumbai dossier, India's External Affairs Minister, Pranab Mukherjee said: "Normal relations with Pakistan will depend on the commitments given by Islamabad that the territory under its control will not be used for terrorism in any manner.
"The substantial gains in bilateral relations achieved during the last five years are at a grave risk. It is essential that assurances given by Pakistan at the highest level are implemented with sincerity against the license that terrorist groups enjoy in its territory," said Mukherjee in a suo motu statement in the Lok Sabha.
He said that it is for Pakistan to choose the kind of relationship it wants to have India in future.
Mukherjee asserted that much depends on actions in Mumbai terror attack case reaching to their logical conclusion.
He underlined that India has no quarrel with the people of Pakistan and that is why people-to-people contacts and train and road links were not curtailed after the Mumbai incident.
Indian Foreign Minister said that New Delhi will examine the issue raised in Pakistan's response seeking further information and material relating to the investigation.
He assured the House that India will share with Pakistan whatever is possible after its review.
The External Affairs Minister said that it was a decision taken after due deliberation.
Describing Pakistan's response to the Indian dossier on Mumbai terror attacks as positive, the Minister informed the House that the government has been guided by two objectives of brining perpetrators of Mumbai carnage to justice, and the infrastructure of terrorism which exists in Pakistan is dismantled.
He said this is necessary to prevent recurrence of such attacks in future.
Lauding the role of the International Community to this end, Mukherjee said that India will continue to review the situation including Pakistan's responses and will take further steps to protect citizens.
He warned that the threat of terrorism from Pakistan has emerged as a global menace and that onus of responsibility to eliminate this rests with the Pakistani government.
