India slams Islamabad for terrorists hold public meeting in PoK

IRNA - Islamic Republic News Agency

New Delhi, Feb 6, IRNA – India slammed Pakistan for allowing a congregation of banned terror outfits in Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK), saying it amounted to giving a "license" to them to operate.

Representatives of banned terrorists outfits Jaish-e-Muhammad, Harkat-ul-Mujahideen and Jamat-ud-Dawa had reportedly addressed public rallies in Pak-occupied-Kashmir on Wednesday.

"No effort was made by Pakistan authorities to curb the activities of these groups," External Affairs Ministry spokesman Vishnu Prakash told reporters in New Delhi.

"We strongly condemn the license that banned terrorist organisations continue to enjoy in territory under Pakistan's occupation," he said.

To a question about Indian journalists being roughed up in Pakistan and reaction of the Government, the Official Spokesperson said:

"It is indeed unfortunate that such an incident has taken place in Lahore."

He said Indian High Commission in Pakistan has already brought the matter to the attention of concerned authorities in Islamabad.

Two Indian journalists were on Thursday roughed up and their belongings confiscated by suspected ISI agents in Lahore, prompting India to re-emphasise its month-old advisory that Pakistan is not safe for travel.

"The concerns which led to the travel advisory of December 26, 2008 still very much exist. Indian nationals are advised that it would be unsafe for them to travel to Pakistan," Prakash said.
