Pakistan says 124 activists of group blamed for Mumbai attacks arrested

Islamabad, Jan 15 ,IRNA-- Pakistan has arrested about 124 activists of a banned militant group blamed for the Mumbai attacks, the Country's Interior Ministry chief said Thursday.
Advisor on Interior Rehman Malik told a news conference that chief of 'Jamaat-ud-Dawaa' outfit Hafiz Mohammad Saeed is among those detained after the sanction committee of the U.N Security Council added the group to the list of terrorist organizations.
He said that five relief camps of the group were closed down and its publications as well as its websites blocked.
Referring to the government's efforts after the passage of UN Security Council resolution, he said the government launched a crackdown against militants and Dawas.
Responding to a question, the Interior Advisor said India had provided some information and not the evidence on Mumbai attacks and we are looking into it.
He said that a high level committee has been constituted to review the information shared by India. He said findings of the committee to be headed by a senior police officer will be shared with the Parliament and the whole nation.
The Advisor said Pakistan is committed to bringing the perpetrators of Mumbai attacks to justice. He said that Pakistan had offered India of its unconditional support to India in Mumbai probe.
He urged India to establish direct diplomatic links with Pakistan for the exchange of information on Mumbai attacks instead of using indirect channels.
