18 Killed in Jordan Hotel Blasts
09 November 2005
Jordanian police say at least 18 people were killed in nearly simultaneous explosions at three major hotels in the capital, Amman, Wednesday evening.
Dozens of other people were injured in the blasts at the Radisson, Grand Hyatt and Days Inn hotels. All three are frequented by European and international visitors.
Police say the explosions were apparently caused by bombs and that they are working to determine what type of devices were used.
Clouds of black smoke hovered over the hotels, which were flooded by ambulances, fire engines and police. The surrounding areas were barricaded by security forces.
