British Arrest Man From Northern England in Connection With July 7 Bombings
23 October 2005
British police have arrested a man from northern England in connection with their investigation into the July 7 bombings in London.
On Sunday, Metropolitan police identified the man as a 27-year old from the Dewsbury area of West Yorkshire, and said he was arrested late Saturday on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.
The News of the World tabloid reported Sunday that it had interviewed the man, a British-born Muslim, and passed its information to authorities. Police publicly thanked the newspaper for its help.
The newspaper report said the man was asked by one of the July 7 bombers to take part in the operation, but declined, though he did not alert authorities.
