An alleged close aide of Osama bin Laden and Mullah Omar escaped before a police team raided his house in Pakistan's Punjab province on Sunday, according to a local publication.
Intelligence agencies traced Abdur Rehman Wazir's satellite phone call to Multan and raided his house in Lahore, but he fled while three extremist operatives of a banned outfit were arrested, reported the Daily Times in its Monday's issue.
It added that Wazir was possibly in touch with Osama, or Aiman al-Zawahiri or even Mullah Omar, the ousted leader of Taliban militia in Afghanistan.
Besides, the intelligence agencies reported the recently held wanted suspect, Abu Farraj Al Libbi, also provided information about Wazir.
