RUSSIAN AND US EXPERTS DISCUSS ANTI-EXTREMIST MEASURES
VELIKY NOVGOROD, March 11 (RIA Novosti, Andrei Letyagin) - Russian and the US law enforcement experts gathered at a conference Climate of Trust in Veliky Novgorod (an ancient city in the north-west of Russia) on Friday to discuss anti-extremist measures.
Sources in the Novgorod region administration told RIA Novosti that, in particular, law enforcement experts from Veliky Novgorod and San Francisco participate in the work of the conference.
The participants will discuss issues related to prevention and countering of extremism in relations between ethnic groups and religious denominations.
The Russian-US Climate of Trust program has been implemented for several years now.
It includes exchange of experts, training seminars involving not only law enforcement officers, but also representatives of public organizations and teachers.
Several public centers coordinating efforts of law enforcement structures, educational institutions and public organizations have been created in various Russian cities in the framework of the program.
On Thursday, the US guests met with the leadership of the region, visited several law enforcement bodies in Veliky Novgorod and patrolled the streets and squares of the city together with Russian police officers.
The US delegation will conclude its visit to Veliky Novgorod on Sunday, March 13.
