LIMA CONFERENCE TO COUNTER INTERNATIONAL MONEY-LAUNDERING OPERATIONS
MOSCOW, March 3 (RIA Novosti) - Lima, the capital of Peru, is to host a session of an INTOSAI (International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions) working group March 3-5. Conference delegates will discuss various issues as regards efforts to cope with international money-laundering operations, reads an Audit Chamber press release that was received by RIA Novosti on Thursday.
A delegation of Russia's Audit Chamber headed by Deputy Audit Chamber Chairman Alexander Semikolennykh will attend the Lima conference.
Those taking part in this conference will discuss more active INTOSAI efforts to fight money-laundering operations, which often fuel international terrorism, the press release notes.
The Audit Chamber delegation will also attend events devoted to the 75-th anniversary of establishing Peru's comptroller-general's department, the press release notes.
INTOSAI was established in 1953 for the purpose of financial-audit interaction and experience exchanges. Right now, this organization unites audit agencies from more than 180 countries of the world. For its own part, Russia joined INTOSAI in 1995.
The INTOSAI working group was established in 2003 on the initiative of Russia's Audit Chamber. This working group comprises chiefs of audit agencies representing all regional INTOSAI associations. Their list includes top Russian, US and British auditors.
