QUESTION TAKEN AT SEPTEMBER 2, 2004 DAILY PRESS BRIEFING
Saudi Arabia: Surrender of Abdallah al-Muqrin
Question: Do we have any information on Abdallah Bin-Abd-al-Aziz al-Muqrin, a Saudi citizen who allegedly surrendered to local authorities?
Answer: We have seen press reports that Saudi authorities have taken Mr. Al-Muqrin into custody. We have no further information for you and refer you to the Saudi government for any additional questions regarding this development.
The Saudi government has undertaken a number of important and significant steps in its ongoing effort to combat terrorism and terrorist financing. The U.S. and Saudi Arabia continue to cooperate closely in this area and have established a solid mechanism for coordinating joint activities, exchanging information, arranging the travel of appropriate experts, and setting mutual priorities.
