US: Possible Attacks Delay Diplomats' Return to Saudi Arabia VOA News 13 Aug 2004, 19:20 UTC
The U.S. State Department says it will keep non-emergency diplomatic personnel and their families out of Saudi Arabia indefinitely.
Officials said "credible information" indicates terrorists continue to target residential compounds across the country, and especially in the capital, Riyadh.
Non-emergency U.S. diplomatic personnel and their dependents were ordered out of the country in mid-April. Two weeks later, six westerners were killed in an attack on an oil facility in western Saudi Arabia. And in June, an American engineer was kidnapped and beheaded by al-Qaida linked militants.
