Germany crushes "terror cell": official
IRNA
Berlin, Dec 4, IRNA -- The head of Germany`s Federal Crime Office on Thursday warned against serious threat of "Ansar al-Islam" in Germany, DPA reported. Ulrich Kersten issued the warning a day after authorities announced the breaking up of an "islamist terror cell" -- Ansar al-Islam -- in the southern German city of Munich. Its alleged leader, a 29-year-old Iraqi identified only as Mohammad L., was arrested. The cell is believed to have organised the trips of suicide attackers to Iraq. "There is a serious threat in our country," Kersten said adding that the network of islamists in Germany maintain ties to foreign-based networks. "Not all (cells) are controlled by Al-Qaeda, but they are increasingly standing under (Al-Qaeda`s) ideological umbrella," it added. VKP/215 END
