Saudi governments offers further details on Mecca Thursday events

Riyadh, Nov 7, IRNA -- An informed source at the Interior Ministry of Saudi Arabia offered a more detailed account on Thursday terrorist incidents in Mecca, in an interview with SPA on Friday. The Saudi Press Agency (SPA), carried an interview with the Saudi official who spoke on condition of anonymity and said, "Two terrorists who were besieged at a team house in Holy Mecca`s Ash-Sharaye`a district by Saudi security officers committed suicide exploding two hand grenades." He added, "A machine gun, a few hand grenades, five fuses prepared for usage on heavy bombs, and some explosives were discovered at the team house where the besieged terrorists committed suicide." Without making reference to the nationalities of the terrorists killed on Thursday, the Saudi official said, "The Saudi government is quite competent in confrontation with any groups wishing to disturb the security of the citizens of this Islamic country, and will crush any threats against Saudi national security." During armed clashes between the terrorists and Saudi security forces in Riyadh, too, one more armed Saudi dissident got killed and eight Saudi security officials got wounded. Also last Monday, in armed clashes between Saudi security forces and terrorists in Mecca`s Al-Khazra and Ash-Sharaye`a district, two terrorists got killed and six more of them were arrested.
