Pak intelligence agencies quiz 18 detained Al-Qaeda suspects
IRNA
Islamabad, Oct 4, IRNA - The Pakistani intelligence agencies began interrogation of 18 Al-Qaeda suspects as the army ended its largest operation in tribal area of the country on Friday. Local newspapers Express and Daily Times reported the agencies had started investigating the suspects for their alleged links with Al-Qaeda in undisclosed centers. Pakistani, American and Afghan authorities had received information that there was a possibility of presence of Al-Qaeda and Taliban elements in the border areas, they said. In recent weeks, there have been reports of attacks on US and Afghan security forces in the areas close to Pak Afghan border. During the Thursday operation in South Wazirisitan Agency close to Pak-Afghan border which was backed by helicopters, 12 Al-Qaeda suspects were killed while 18 were taken into custody. Two Pakistan army soldiers also were killed in exchange of fire and two more wounded, an Army spokesman said. MHA/TSH/211 End
