Saudi security forces are reported to have arrested more suspected Islamic militants in Mecca in the second raid in as many days in the Muslim holy city.

Local newspapers report the latest raid occurred Sunday on the outskirts of Mecca, and resulted in the arrest of at least four suspects who had escaped an earlier raid in the same city.

Five suspects were killed in the earlier raid, and several others were arrested. Authorities also say scores of bombs were seized, along with automatic weapons, bomb-making chemicals and masks.

The Saudi Foreign Ministry has not yet commented on details of the second raid, or whether they believe any of the suspects are linked to last month's suicide bomb attacks in the capital, Riyadh. The blasts killed 35 people, including nine Americans.

Police report a number of other suspects were arrested in other locations in the city.
