VOICED AT:

INTRO: With the nation on high alert for another terrorist attack, President Bush says the United States will continue to fight terrorism at home and abroad following recent attacks in Saudi Arabia and Morocco. V-O-A's Scott Stearns has the story.

TEXT: Speaking to graduates of the U-S Coast Guard Academy, President Bush said the nation "will not relent in the war against global terror."

/// BUSH ACT ///

Our country has been attacked by treachery in our own cities and that treachery continues in places like Riyadh and Casablanca. We have seen the ruthless intentions of our enemies. And they are seeing our intentions. We will press on until this danger to our country and to the world is ended.

/// END ACT ///

The president says U-S forces will continue to target terrorist bases -- as they did in Afghanistan. He says Washington has shown its determination to prevent terrorists from acquiring weapons of mass destruction by invading Iraq and toppling Saddam Hussein.

Mr. Bush also spoke of social welfare goals in U-S foreign policy including increased funding for programs to end AIDS, poverty, and hunger. He says those goals will "bring greater security" to the United States and show what he calls "the moral purpose of American influence". (SIGNED)
