INTRO: In northern New York state a second man has pleaded guilty to charges of providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization. From V-O-A's New York Bureau, correspondent Barbara Schoetzau has the details.

TEXT: The so-called "Lackawanna Six " were arrested in the Buffalo, New York, suburb in September, accused of training at an al-Qaida camp in Afghanistan in the months leading up to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States.

Defense lawyers say the defendants went to Afghanistan for religious studies. But in January one of the men struck a deal with authorities and agreed to testify against his co-defendants. Negotiations between authorities and the other men have been on-going. Now a second man, U-S born Shafal Mosed, has entered a guilty plea. He has admitted that he knew Osama bin Laden was associated with the camp near Kandahar, Afghanistan, where he learned how to use guns and launch grenades from April until June 2001.

Mosed will be held in custody until sentencing in mid-July. Prosecutors are asking for an eight-year prison term. (Signed)
