Brennan to Head New Intelligence Center, White House Says
(Center brings full integration to terrorism-related intelligence) (190) Washington -- John Brennan, a long-time CIA veteran, has been appointed director of the newly created Terrorist Threat Integration Center (TTIC), the White House said March 11. The TTIC, which was announced by President Bush in his State of the Union Address, is scheduled to begin operations on May 1, the White House said in a prepared statement. It will enable full integration of U.S. terrorist threat-related information and analysis. Its structure is designed to ensure rapid and unfettered sharing of relevant information across government agencies, the White House statement said. Terrorism-related intelligence is currently managed by the CIA, FBI, Defense Intelligence Agency, and the State and Homeland Security departments. Brennan was appointed by the Director of Central Intelligence, George J. Tenet, in consultation with FBI Director Robert Mueller, Attorney General John Ashcroft, and the secretaries of Homeland Security and Defense, the White House said. Brennan is a top aide to Tenet and has been with the CIA 23 years in both operational and analytical roles at the agency's headquarters in Virginia and abroad.
