CACI Awarded $31.5 Million Contract With U.S. Customs Service to Support Enterprise-wide Information Assurance
CACI Is Industry Partner Helping Customs Integrate Security Into All Systems
Arlington, Va., April 18, 2002 — CACI International Inc (NASDAQ:CACI) announced today that it has been awarded a competitive, five-year $31.5 million contract through the General Services Administration (GSA) Program Safeguard contract vehicle to assist the U.S. Customs Service in its implementation of enterprise-wide information assurance. In supporting Customs' Enterprise Security Services program, CACI will act as industry partner to Customs in integrating security solutions throughout the Service to ensure that all its systems and programs meet federal requirements for information assurance. The contract award increases the value of CACI's support for Customs and significantly expands the company's information assurance line of business, a targeted growth area.
With more than 20,000 personnel, U.S. Customs enforces federal policy on the flow of goods across America's borders. CACI's role is to support Customs in securing the information systems that are vital to its critical mission. The company will help Customs formulate information assurance plans and policies; develop and deliver comprehensive training and education; establish a security architecture; and maintain operations such as computer incident-response capabilities that protect against hackers and related cyber-threats. CACI will also help Customs provide security officers that enter systems development projects at an early stage to ensure information assurance is built into the systems from the start.
CACI follows a synergistic approach that combines the expertise of both its teammates and Customs personnel. This enhances Customs' ability to achieve its vision for enterprise-wide security, in a timely and effective manner and with an optimal blend of tools and techniques. The success of Customs' ability to deliver comprehensive, tailored security solutions across all systems is illustrated by the January 2002 award to Customs of the Potomac Forum's Second Annual Computer Security & Information Award for best practices in the civilian government category.
"Working side by side with the U.S. Customs Service, CACI is assisting Customs to secure information at every level of their enterprise," noted CACI's President of U.S. Operations, Ken Johnson. "By choosing CACI to continue its work for Customs under this new contract, the Service takes advantage of our ability to offer the right mix of services and expertise to meet the complete range of their information assurance needs."
According to CACI's Chairman and CEO, Dr. J.P. (Jack) London, "This information assurance award with the U.S. Customs Service is a great example of how CACI is assisting one of our valued clients realize their vision on an enterprise-wide scale. We are proud to have been selected from more than 25 other Safeguard contractors for this award, one of the biggest to date under the General Services Administration's Safeguard program. Information assurance is a strategic growth area for CACI, and this award affirms our ability to leverage combined capabilities to deliver integrated solutions for our clients."
