Oshkosh Corp. gets modified Army contract worth $272 million
By Northwestern staff
The U.S. Department of Defense awarded a modified version of a 2007, $272.6 million contract to build a Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles for the U.S. Army to Oshkosh Corp., formerly Oshkosh Truck Corp.
The vehicles will be manufactured in Oshkosh and the work is expected to be completed by Dec. 31.
Oshkosh Vice President of Marketing Ann Stawski said the award was announced only because the Army changed the specifications for the vehicles to be manufactured. She said the contract does not include any new revenues beyond the contract's initial value.
According to the Web site GlobalSecurity.org, the Family of Heavy Tactical Vehicles contract was originally awarded to Oshkosh in March 2001 with an estimated value of $1 billion over at least five years. The contract includes the production of Heavy Expanded Mobility Tactical Trucks, Heavy Equipment Transports, Palletized Load Systems and other vehicles.
