Human skull found on bombing range
By David L. Teibel - Tucson Citizen
A U.S. Border Patrol agent walking through the Barry M. Goldwater Air Force Range in southwest Arizona found a human skull Sunday, a Border Patrol spokesman said.
The range, which is operated by Luke Air Force Base’s 56th Fighter Wing Range Management Office, runs along the Mexican border, according to GlobalSecurity.org. It is used by both Air Force and Marine pilots.
No clothing or personal items were found with the skull that could indicate who the person was, Border Patrol Agent Michael Scioli said.
Authorities suspect it belongs to someone who crossed the border illegally. If that’s the case, the latest remains would bring to seven the number of suspected illegal entrants found dead in southern Arizona’s deserts since Oct. 1, the beginning of the federal fiscal year, according to Border Patrol and Tucson Citizen records.
