USA - MOAB MAKES EXPLOSIVE DEBUT MAR 12/CBS.
CBS NEWS -- The Pentagon successfully tested a new 21,000-pound conventional bomb near Pensacola, Fla., yesterday, hoping to rattle the nerves of Iraq, CBS News reports.
The military released a video of the test quickly, which some analysts believe was intended as a warning to the Iraqi military of what they could face in a war with the U.S.
The Air Force has not specified how the bomb, known as the MOAB (massive ordnance airburst bomb), would be used in combat. John Pike, a defense analyst with GlobalSecurity.org, said it could be effective against Republican Guard armored formations or even on Saddam's palaces.
