Iraq shoots down unmanned U-S plane

Alexandria, Virginia-AP -- One defense expert says unmanned planes like the one Iraq shot down yesterday are relatively easy targets. John Pike of Virginia-based GlobalSecurity.org says the remote-control planes are vulnerable because they fly low and slow.

The Predator was shot down close to Iraq's border with Iran. But the Iraqi and U-S accounts differ. Baghdad says it was hit by ground fire. The U-S says an Iraqi fighter shot it down. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Richard Myers calls it "a lucky shot." The nearly four (m) million dollar drone was destroyed.
