As President George W. Bush keeps the crosshairs on Saddam Hussein, it appears almost inevitable some sort of clash is on the horizon. How it might happen, what the repercussions could be and how the military conflict could play out are the focus of this site.
Washington, D.C.-area GlobalSecurity.org produced a site that offers one of the Net's deepest resources on the growing tensions with Iraq. It's not flashy, but it's filled with news and analysis and lots of background information that reads like a CIA briefing.
For starters, check out the countdown time line for predications and possible scenarios about significant dates that could affect planned military actions. The information is explicit, right down to possible plans for aircraft carrier deployment and a calendar of opportunities to attack in darkness under a new moon.
There's a pretty objective pro-and-con discussion on the reasons for and against an attack and the implications for each course of action. Background information on Iraq, assessments of its nuclear and chemical weapons capabilities and satellite photos of likely geographic targets are offered along with profiles of weapons.
