During the Hamas takeover of the Gaza Strip in June 2007, Hamas took control of many facilities in Gaza, including this building and the "Palestinian Prisoner Tower" in Beit Al Hava located in southern Gaza city. This facility is now used as a central operational facility for Hamas security operations and as a weapons armory.
During times of tension, snipers can be seen on the roof of the building. Hamas offices are also located in this building and additionally large amounts of weapons are stored inside. The building is used only by Hamas and is not a residential building by any means. |
