Joint Ukraine-Nordic-Baltic Statement. OSCE Ministerial Council 2025
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine
05 December 2025 19:18
Thank you, Chair,
I deliver this statement on behalf of Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden and Ukraine.
After nearly four years, Ukraine is still defending itself against Russia's brutal and unprovoked full-scale invasion, the consequences of which are felt not only in Ukraine but across Europe. Ukraine has every right under international law to defend itself. .
We have from the outset of Russia's war of aggression stood by Ukraine's side and we will continue to do so. Our resolve comes from the fact that we know that this is not only about Ukrainian security, it is also about the wider security of Europe, and about the fundamental principle that sovereign borders cannot be changed by force, as enshrined in the UN Charter and the Helsinki Final Act.
We will therefore continue to arm Ukraine and strengthen Europe's defense to deter further Russian aggression. As long as Russia continues its war against Ukraine, we will also support strengthening sanctions and wider economic measures.
[Mr./Ms] Chair,
Ukraine has continuously shown that it is serious about peace. Ukraine remains ready to negotiate. Russia has so far not committed to a ceasefire or any steps leading to peace. Instead, Russia continues its brutal attacks against Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure.
Russia must immediately cease its illegal attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure. Russia must be held accountable for its actions. There must be no impunity for crimes, including war crimes and the crime of aggression. And victims must receive justice.
[Mr./Ms] Chair,
Solutions that respect Ukraine's sovereignty and that will bring Ukraine and Europe greater security and stability have our full support.
A just and lasting peace requires justice, accountability, and the full respect of Ukraine's independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders
The Nordic and Baltic countries will continue to stand with Ukraine - now and in the future.
I thank you, chair.
