The top diplomats of Poland, Norway, and Germany announced today a joint donation of USD 500 million to the Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List (PURL). Under the initiative, NATO members provide military aid to Ukraine.

Before a NATO meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Radosław Sikorski declared that the MFA will contribute USD 100 million to the package pooled by Poland, Norway, and Germany under the PURL initiative through which NATO coordinates the purchase of crucial defensive equipment from the US by other Alliance members.

"We hope that other Allies see it as encouragement to also take advantage of this programme so that Putin gets the message and Ukraine can get a fair peace," Deputy Prime Minister Sikorski said during a press conference in Brussels.

The contribution is a sizeable investment in the security of Poland and Europe, and an expression of solidarity with Ukraine, whose situation is now more difficult than at any time since the outbreak of Russia's full-scale aggression in February 2022. The package will enable Ukraine to replenish ammunition and receive the essential equipment it needs to defend itself from Russia. Also, support for Ukraine's defence capabilities enhances Kyiv's standing in negotiations towards a just and lasting peace.

Launched this August, the PURL initiative has gathered several billion dollars from NATO members to fund military support for Ukraine. The Allies that financed the preceding packages include the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Canada, as well as countries on NATO's eastern flank, namely Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia.
