MOSCOW (Sputnik) - The effective work of the Russian armed forces should convince Zelensky that it is better to negotiate now than later, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
"The effective work of the Russian armed forces should convince Zelensky and his regime that it is better to negotiate and do it now, better to do it now than later," Peskov told reporters.
The actions of the Russian armed forces are an attempt to coerce Zelensky into a peaceful solution, the spokesman also said, adding that any further action is pointless and dangerous for Ukraine.
"The space for him [Zelensky] to make decisions is shrinking as he loses territory during the offensive actions of the Russian armed forces," Peskov added.
- The US has certain ideas regarding a Ukrainian settlement, but nothing specific is currently being discussed.
- Russia is open to peace talks for their success, not for the sake of the process.
- The contacts between Russia and the United States are ongoing, and the parties never stopped them.
- A meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump is necessary.
- Russia and the United States have not made much progress in eliminating irritants in bilateral relations.
- Moscow is open to dialogue on a settlement in Ukraine based on the discussions that took place in Anchorage.
