On 23 October in Tokyo, as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Kęstutis Budrys continued his working visit to Japan, he participated in a meeting co-organised by Lithuania and Ukraine with representatives of Japanese state institutions and businesses. The meeting focused on discussing opportunities for cooperation between Lithuania and Lithuania in implementing reconstruction and recovery projects in Ukraine.
When speaking at the gathering, the Minister noted that Lithuania is an experienced partner in reconstructing Ukraine, implementing large-scale projects in the areas of institution building, education, physical and psychological rehabilitation, promoting economic resilience, leading important EU-funded programmes, and actively providing practical support to Ukrainian institutions.
"Lithuanian projects cover the entire territory of Ukraine, including frontline regions. Based on our historical experience and understanding of the specificities of the region, together with Japan, we are ready to develop long-term, resilient, and innovative solutions to help Ukraine successfully recover," said the Minister.
Budrys said that Lithuania is a leader in supporting Ukraine' integration into EU, leading and implementing together with partners the EU-funded Integration Support Programme for Ukraine (Ukraine2EU) and the EU 4 Public Finance Management in Ukraine (EU4PFM) Programme, as well as preparing for the EU4Reconstruction Programme to support Ukraine's large-scale reconstruction efforts.
The Minister emphasized that Lithuania-implemented projects stand out for their high quality, visibility, and concrete results and invited representatives of Japanese state institutions and businesses to join Lithuanian initiatives and jointly contribute to the reconstruction and recovery of Ukraine.
