The Ukrainian Sea Corridor continues to operate steadily even in the midst of war. More than 150 million tonnes of cargo have already crossed it, including 90 million tonnes of grain delivered to 55 countries around the world. More than 6,000 ships have handled by Ukrainian ports, ensuring exports and supporting the country's economy. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister for the Restoration - Minister for Communities and Territories Development Oleksiy Kuleba.
"The Ukrainian Maritime Corridor is operating despite the war. Every day, thousands of people maintain logistics, repair damage, navigate ships, and repair equipment. Everyone is doing their part in this great endeavor — ensuring that the country moves forward, the economy functions, and the world receives Ukrainian products," said Oleksii Kuleba.
A meeting chaired by Oleksii Kuleba was held in Odesa with the participation of Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development Andrii Kashuba, Head of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) Oleksandr Semyrha, as well as branch managers tp tackle issues of the security of seaports and the protection of critical infrastructure. The emphasis was placed on the state of shelters, employee protection, strengthening energy resilience, and modernizing logistics hubs.
There are already 30 stationary shelters in operation in seaports, and an additional 21 mobile protective structures have been installed in the ports of the Greater Odesa. By the end of the year, another 28 shelters will be built. Port operators and private companies have also installed dozens of shelters so that every employee has a safe place to stay during an emergency.
During his working trip, Oleksii Kuleba inspected transport interchanges where repair work is underway. Once completed, the throughput capacity for freight transport will increase by more than 20%. This will allow to reduce queues, improve logistics efficiency, and ensure export stability.
"Ukrainian ports remain one of the key areas that support the economy, ensure global food security, and maintain Ukraine's role as a reliable partner in the global market. Every day, thousands of people maintain logistics, repair damage, launch ships, and repair equipment. Each of them is doing their part in a great cause— ensuring that the country keeps moving, the economy keeps working, and the world keeps receiving Ukrainian products. I thank the port workers for their efforts," said Oleksii Kuleba.
